Fast and Furious Say What You Will Official Video

In the Fast and Furious movies, there was a time when Corey De La Hoya said “I don’t know what I’m going to do with the title because I don’t want to do the traditional form of fighting. If you’re fighting in that type of arena, the fighters are professionals, they’re trained. The judges always consider the skill of the fighter and you’ll find the same thing at the weigh-ins for the fights. I’d rather show up at the weigh-ins clean as a whistle. I’m here to perform, show my skill, let the fans see it.”

Those were his words before he met Floyd Mayweather and asked him to fight foreign boxers. It’s interesting to know that he didn’t really expect to fight in that manner and was actually thinking more like “I want to show up as clean as a whistle”. Which is probably true and if you consider boxing not only a sporting event but also a competition, then it doesn’t hurt if the people are reminded that the rules are different in this case.

It seems that De La Hoya would be better suited to take on foreign boxers, yet he will have to get up in weight when going up against opponents that are much heavier than he is. Maybe that will be an advantage for him but that would be an unfair disadvantage for the other guy. It will be interesting to see if other boxers follow his lead in the coming years and try to take down foreign boxers rather than showing up as clean as a whistle. Please consider all this and think on it.
